The boy's varsity runners were able to sweep the Delmar team, but fell just short of Sussex Central, who were able to finish 1-2-3, which made it mathematically impossible for the Milford team to win. Junior Shannon Wilt was the top runner for Milford with a time of 19:10 for the 5K distance.
The boy's JV race was jam-packed full of runners from all three schools. Despite the crowded field, Milford's own Ashton Jerman finished first in a time of 21:02, setting a personal best for the season thus far.
On the girl's side, Senior and captain Emily Holstein dominated the field with a very strong time of 23:16 to take the overall win. The rest of the Milford girl's team also had great races and pulled out wins versus both Delmar and Sussex Central.
The hot and very humid weather conditions made it a very tough race and few runners were able to better their times from last week. As the season progresses and we build on our fitness and the weather starts to become cooler, we should see faster times all around. Our next meet is on 9/28 at Cape Henlopen High School vs. Cape, Poly and Sussex Tech.
